These recordings...

All the recordings I post here will be what I think are VG+(B/B+) quality and unless stated otherwise will be audience recordings. They will not be to everyone's taste but the idea is to give fellow music fans a chance to hear rare recordings from a certain era(the 80's).Many of these I have had stored away for 30+ years and will be available for the first time...

If it's soundboard A+ quality you are after these will not be for you...BUT I would never post anything that was unlistenable.. So pop the headphones on and grab your air guitar of choice... lets ROCK

Now i will be amazed if anyone can remember this band (no not the brillaint aor american band who did.dearborn station) but our own little treasure....Let me explain...during this period there were so many bands of a similar genre we were spoilt for choice...Here is another. Now i don't like to compare bands but to give you an idea of their sound think of fm,chinatown, terraplane, praying mantis....you get my drift...great melodic rock and british at that... in steve carney they had a great singer who now plays in a YES cover band so that will tell you how good a voice he has ....If you like this period for music grab this and i think you will be pleasantly suprised.....
This was supposed the be the last reading festival and they really pulled out all the stops for sat & sun with some great bands (forget fri ...zzzzzz) and was definitely one of my favourite festival experiences ever...but jesus was i hungover or what....here's the advert for it...enjoy ed

Here are a couple of shy shows from when they supported twisted sister back in '86.i though they were quite good but the rest of the hammy crowd didn't agree with me and gave them a hard time,to be honest it was a bit of a miss match but if your thing is good melodic rock this is for you...enjoy ed

11.dirty money

mp3

More savage from the standard.... as i have said on my other savage post they produced one of my favourite albums of this era "loose & lethal" with most of the songs included in this set...if cry wolf does not move you... well sorry but get your hearing checked out...great stuff ....the only downside once again to this show was the apathy of london crowds... ok there were not a lot of people here but there can be nothing worse for a band than when they finish a song and are met with nothing but polite applause..... but they still rocked on and it did get better towards the end of the gig....enjoy ed

Ok just to clear a few things up regarding this recording...I have seen this available in various formats over the years so i assume along with myself the gig was recorded by someone else which as i have said before on this blog is very likely as i would hang around with other bootleggers (sounds so secretive ha) and we would often trade etc.... from memory i cannot recall trading this show but i may of...this is definitely my recording as i can here myself at one point talking to my then girlfriend during a break in songs.....Now i am not trying to gain any brownie points as i don't really give a shit it's just that i recently received a pm from someone saying that i used one of his recordings which was untrue as i do know what i recorded from the notes i left on the cassette inlay and i always stipulate whether it's an ed master (my original recording) or a trade.
Anyway the gig itself...well i don't know as i wasn't there (JOKING) it was really good but everyone knew that the rest of maiden were turning up so the whole of wardour street was taken up with maiden fans all afternoon screaming for bruce etc which i think was a bit unfair on adrian smith who was the star of the show for me..i have always liked his urchin and silver and gold material and away from the confines of maiden you really do appreciate what a good guitarist and song writer he is...a great night was had by all....enjoy ed

7.the story
8.all day and all of the night
9.captured city

During the early 80's there truly was some great music around for hard rock fans like myself and for me mantis released one of the great albums of that era (time tells no lies),i recently dusted my copy of it off and gave it a blast and wow it's good... with so many classic songs on it...simply brilliant!.
here is a show i caught them at back in '81 at one of my favourite venues...for the life of me i cannot remember if they headlined or were supporting someone...help! this was before they took on a vocalist yet managed to perfect their harmonies as a four piece...the only downside for me was the reaction from the crowd...very poor and unusual for geordieland...also the inclusion of all day and all of the night...feckin awful song.... for which i remember drunkenly telling tino troy on the  two occasions i met him at later gigs...oh well we all do stupid things in our youth..ha... enjoy ed

13.juggernaut
14.roadhouse blues

mp3

Amazing show!!! 3 hours of pure heaven... if you were to ask me back then to come to a show where there was a 20 minute guitar solo and even worse, a 10 minute drum solo i would of told you to feck off but for some strange reason frank marino did it for me big time... as i have said previously on this blog my intro to the man was the album "what's next" which still to this day gets a regular blast...i  just love it.. so i had to go along and sit through 3 hours of some of the best jamming sessions you will ever hear...totally blown away by the man.... during some of his many solo's there maybe extracts from his earlier albums with mahogany rush but to be honest i don't have them so i am not sure..
Now i have seen this show available on other sites BUT not the full show... This is the full show recorded by myself and it's rather good.. so if you have a spare 3 hours available sit back and open a can(or 3) or roll a fat one if that is your preference and prepare yourself for guitar genius...enjoy ed

Another early bon jovi from my tape collection.... here they are destroying (whoops i mean supporting) kiss on their european tour of '84... i went to see a few of the british dates and they were so good... it was a gamble for kiss to have them on tour with  but it made for a great nights entertainment.and as  we all know 2 years later jovi went on the become the biggest band in the world.a nice recording but unfortunately it cuts off towards the end of runaway but still worth having as i have not seen this show around..... enjoy ed

14.shoot out the lights
15.electric

mp3

WOW... What a band!between '81 & '84 diamond head were on a different level...when a band can produce such energy (shoot out the lights) majestic quality (heaven to hell) brilliant pop rock (call me)and still have a sense of humour (sucking my love) you have to put your hands up and admire them.while transferring this recording i just closed my eyes and transported myself back to the early 80's and think these must of been some of the best songs to come out of that era....pure brilliance.

The town & venue itself..well thats a different story...it's hull so it must of been raining and as for the venue... it was literally a ballroom...not the best venue for a rock gig..that aside for those of us there we witnessed something very special.this was early days for me regards to recording but i think it came out quite good (slight cock up on the tape flip at the end of devil) and i only had a c90 on me so it cuts off at the end of electric...still worth a listen mefinks....... enjoy ed

This has to be my first post back.... a massive thank you to steve28 who kindly sent this little gem through a few months ago...another one of those bands that could of and should of been huge but once again because of record company bollocks they only managed a 3 year career.... Fantastic british melodic rock and if you get a chance grab their 2nd album "there for none to see" you will not be disappointed.... Great live recording...enjoy ed

p.s. once again thanks steve28 and if you have any other little treats tucked away and would like them out there feel free to pm me and i promise not to take so long putting them up...cheers buddy
